Calibre review.
Calibre is a metabolic mask.

Normaly a metabolic test would set you back £100 for just one test, But with this you can do as many as you want, and to really get an understanding of your body you’ll want many tests.
I bought and paid for mine, also as I live in the uk I had a customs charge. But no other device has had me this excited.
True metabolic testing At home for a one off payment. If this works, it will be the first time that I actually feel like I live in 2024. I mean where is the moon bases, flying cars. This device is simply a $10,000 metabolic system that I can put in my bag for a fraction of the price. But does it work?
There are three main uses for a metabolic mask.
RMR, vo2 max and fat burn max.
RMR, resting metabolic rate. I’ve been lucky enough to have mine tested with Calorify, which is a test that cost $1000 and it’s the good standard. And drum roll please calibre came out with in 50 calories.
Moreover while I’ve been on a fat loss phase. My RMR has been reducing. That’s cool’s to know. I’ve also tested a few other people with the device and they all have wildly different RMR. With calibre you don’t input any data. The mask just reads the person. It’s incredible to see. Although I have been told that if you are testing someone else get them to download the app on there phone.
So your a their data doesn’t get mixed. Moreover the device isn’t approved for multiple people from a hygiene perspective. Which is it biggest downside. But it is easy to clean and you could put it in a uv cleaning machine.
In my opinion calibre is extremely accurate for RMR. Which opens a world of possibilities, as daily, weekly testing just wasn’t possible for the average person before. Like me you can see how your diet changes your metabolism.
So rather than dropping calories I should have more re-feeds, to boost metabolism.

vo2 max.

But is it any good for Vo2 max testing?
My initial thoughts were NO, but after reviewing the data I’ve changed my mind.
So here are my thoughts so far, lots of details missing this is just an overview.

The device measures peak Vo2 max. Which is the peak o2 used in that session. To find your vo2 max you have to go as hard as you can after a build-up.
I did and scored 2.84 peak vo2, this is the highest I’ve recorded ever on the device. Then I asked chat gbt to convert this to Vo2 max.
🟢Which gave me a Vo2 max score of 27.8.
The next test I did was use the c2 rowing machine and did a 2k test. Concept 2 has a vo2 max calculation on their website.
🟢And I scored a vo2 max of 28.8
You can also use FPT, as I haven’t done one I’ll just guess it’s about 190w. Again I just asked chat gbt to convert this and it says my vo2 max is 23.3
So in this mini-conclusion
Calibre 27.8
Rowing 28.8
FPT 23.3
The average is
26.6. Which calibre is closest too! This is actually wild. Calibre is simply incredible unlike my Vo2 max Moreover in future tests can I improve this?

It’s worth watching to get an understanding of zone 2/ fat burn max.
With calibre you can find fat burn max easily and how much fat you are actually burning. For me my watts were a lot lower than previous calculated. This could be due to a lack of zone 2 training. But a key finding for me was walking is the most fat burning activity I do. My body simply loved burning fat while I walked.
Moreover I burn more than twice the calories walking than I do sitting. Just seeing this data, has me walking every chance I get.
